The Lebanese delegation is gearing up for historic winter youth Olympics in Gangwon, South Korea.
The Lebanese Olympic Committee unveiled the final roster of the Lebanese delegation on Thursday.
The Lebanese delegation to the fourth Winter Youth Olympic Games for the year 2024, hosted by the city of Gangwon in South Korea, has completed its roster. The event will take place from January 19 to February 1. The delegation members have settled in the Olympic Village under the supervision and field follow-up of the head of the delegation, Executive Committee member of the Lebanese Olympic Committee, Raymond Succar. In a communication with him, Succar stated that the players have engaged in preparatory exercises under the guidance of the coaching staff, which includes the French Romain Garcin, Salim Keyrouz, Samer Tawk and Salim Lozom.
Succar pointed out that he attended a meeting of delegation heads to confirm participation in the competitions and to receive the accredited cards for the delegation members, player rooms and training schedules. Lebanese athletes enter the competition on Tuesday, January 23, with the alpine skiing competition (long slalom) featuring player Kiana Sakkal in the youth category. On the following day, Wednesday, January 24, player Alexander Hayek will compete in the youth category, and on Thursday, January 25, the short slalom competitions will take place, with both Hayek and Sakkal participating together. The deep snow skiing competition is scheduled to start on January 29, with players Syrelle Lozom, Karen Succar and Marcelino Tawk participating.
The opening ceremony of the games is scheduled to take place at 7:00 PM on Friday, January 19, South Korea time, and at 12:00 PM Beirut time.
In addition, Succar expressed his utmost pride for the praise and commendation from several officials of participating delegations and the organizing committee of the games regarding Lebanon's first-time qualification in the deep snow skiing competition for the youth category, with Karen Succar and Syrelle Lozom.
