- Escalation of Israeli Strikes in South Lebanon
On Tuesday, the Israeli air force carried out raids on Aita al-Shaab, as well as more than 15 strikes on the outskirts of Bayad, Wadi Slouki, and Wadi el-Hajir.
The bombardments also hit the olive groves on the outskirts of Al-Abbara in Kfar Kila and the areas of Mays al-Jabal and Maroun al-Ras.
The locality of Rab el-Thalathin was subjected to artillery bombardment, resulting in the burning of a dwelling. The Lebanese Civil Defense teams and Al-Resala Association worked to extinguish the flames. Israeli aircraft also bombed Alma al-Shaab.
The locality of Hula was also bombed, targeting homes and cars, requiring the intervention of the Civil Defense and ambulances. Israeli planes, helicopters, and drones carried out reconnaissance flights over the western and central sectors, particularly over Naqoura and Alma al-Shaab.
On Tuesday, the Israeli Army announced that it had targeted 150 Hezbollah cells responsible for launching rockets and drones. Israeli media reported "a large army attack in Wadi Slouki, where dozens of targets were attacked simultaneously." The Israeli newspaper 'Maariv' reported that "today's (Tuesday) strikes on Lebanon are the most intense since the start of the war."
Israeli television reported that the Israeli Army was carrying out a maneuver simulating an attack on Lebanon. The media quoted Northern Command Chief Uri Gordin: "We are more ready than ever, and we will continue to step up our preparations and assessments." Gordin highlighted the deployment of tens of thousands of soldiers along the northern border, claiming to have struck numerous sites on the Lebanese side. He added that much remains to be done to achieve the desired result, which is to enable the inhabitants of northern (Israel) to return to their homes.
Hezbollah announced that it had targeted an Israeli soldier's post east of the settlement of Even Menachem "with weapons and missiles." The pro-Iranian party also claimed to have carried out a strike on the Samake post in the Shebaa Farms, where it suffered "direct casualties." Israeli special forces had announced on Tuesday morning that they had infiltrated southern Lebanon "to clear the village of Aita al-Shaab." However, UNIFIL said it had received no reports of Israeli infiltration from across the border with Lebanon. "We are examining the situation," declared UNIFIL.
