Bou Habib Welcomes US Mediation in Meeting with New Ambassador
The newly appointed US ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson, reiterated in a meeting on Monday with Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdallah Bou Habib her country’s commitment to mediate and ease tensions in southern Lebanon between Israel and Hezbollah.

"We received with satisfaction the American willingness to act as mediators in order to reduce tensions and restore calm and stability in the south," Bou Habib said following the meeting, the first with Johnson since she assumed her new post on January 11.

He added, "We are engaging in dialogue with the American side with an open and positive spirit to reach lasting solutions that preserve Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity while guaranteeing the rights, security, and stability of the Lebanese, particularly the people in the south."
