During his sermon on Sunday in Bkerke, Maronite Patriarch Bechara al-Rai addressed Lebanon's current political situation, expressing concern over the ongoing presidential vacuum and the obstacles hindering the election process.
The Patriarch's statements also touched upon the delicate balance between political developments and international affairs. "We cannot accept the sidelining of the Maronite Christian head of state," he declared.
He also severely criticized political factions and parties for their "obstruction of the country's head of state's election," while stressing that the presidential deadline "should not be linked to the end of the Gaza war nor the resolution of the 13 litigious points along the Lebanese southern border."
"We call upon the Lebanese state to apply international agreements and resolutions, namely 1701," he concluded.
