Israeli and Hezbollah Escalations Along Southern Border
Israeli and Hezbollah exchanges escalated once again on Saturday across the Lebanese border.

In the early morning, Hezbollah announced launching 62 missiles targeting the Meron air control base, as an initial response to the assassination on January 2 of the Hamas deputy leader, Saleh al-Arouri. It specified in a statement that the Meron base is located at the summit of Mount Jarmaq. The base is considered the sole center for management, surveillance and air control in northern Israel, responsible for coordinating all air operations to Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Cyprus and the northern part of the eastern Mediterranean basin, according to the militia party.

The Israeli army spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, stated, "Following warnings in northern Israel, the launch of about 40 rocket shells from Lebanon into the Mount Meron region was detected, where no infiltration was spotted." He mentioned that "the Israeli army promptly responded by attacking a militant cell in Lebanon that played a role in the missile launch operations."

Israeli military aircraft carried out an airstrike on the outskirts of Aita al-Shaab. The vicinity of the town of Yaroun also came under attack, followed by several others near Beit Lev. Israeli artillery targeted the outskirts of Khiam and Kfar Kila, the surroundings of Bourj al-Moulouk, Markaba, Rab Thilain, and the outskirts of Yarin, Dhayra, and Tayr Harfa.

Fatima Al-Aoush, a young woman of Syrian nationality, was injured by shrapnel in the leg during the enemy raid on Bourj al-Moulouk and was transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment. Israeli artillery bombarded the western outskirts of the towns of Mays al-Jabal, Wadi al-Salouki and the town of Hula.

In the afternoon, the National News Agency (ANI) reported that the Israeli army had conducted raids on tents, accompanied by phosphorous artillery fire. Additionally, a loud explosion was heard near Saida and the coastal villages of Iqlim al-Kharroub and al-Zahrani, along with a series of Israeli raids targeting the Kaouthariyet al-Siyad region in Saida. This is a significant development in a conflict that appears to be gradually widening.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah announced targeting the site of Metulla as well as a gathering of Israeli infantry soldiers near the Honin barracks. In the afternoon, the pro-Iranian group stated that it had "targeted the site of Bayad Blida."

Additionally, Hezbollah announced the death of one of its fighters from the city of Bint Jbeil and the residents of the town of Bourj al-Shamali in the south.
