Commander-in-Chief of the Army General Joseph Aoun convened several meetings in his office in Yarzeh on Thursday to discuss the situation in southern Lebanon and the role of the Lebanese Army.
Discussions with UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Aroldo Lázaro focused on cooperation and coordination between the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL, given the current situation in southern Lebanon, marked by exchanges of fire between Hezbollah and Israel.
General Aoun also engaged in talks with the British Deputy Chief of Defence Staff for Military Strategy and Operations, General Charles Walker, in the presence of British Ambassador Hamish Cowell and accompanied by the British military attaché in Lebanon, Major Lee Richard Saunders. The various parties discussed means of cooperation between the armies of the two countries.
