- Southern Lebanon: Relentless Escalation of Cross-Border Confrontations
In a relentless escalation of violence since the first day of the new year, the Israeli army intensified its operations on Tuesday morning, carrying out air raids on border villages in southern Lebanon.
Four air-to-ground missiles were fired at targets between Bint Jbeil and Maroun al-Ras, with additional bombings reported in the Shebaa and Kfarchouba area, as well as the outskirts of Dhayra, Alma al-Shaab and Tayr Harfa.
Israeli army radio reported retaliatory action after intercepting missiles launched from southern Lebanon, targeting the source of the fire.
For its part, Hezbollah announced the death of one of its fighters on Tuesday morning and said it had targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers in the Zarit barracks.
Overnight bombardments reached the outskirts of Naqoura, triggering alarm sirens multiple times at the UNIFIL headquarters. Alma al-Shaab, Tayr Harfa, Dhayra, Aita al-Shaab and Chihine were among the targeted localities. Israeli reconnaissance aircraft continued operations until dawn, dropping flare bombs over various towns and villages in the region.
Furthermore, MP Bilal Abdallah, Chairman of the Parliamentary Health Committee, condemned the targeting of the hospital in Mays al-Jabal, caza of Marjayoun, in an Israeli bombardment on Monday afternoon. Abdallah expressed solidarity with the hospital staff in a phone call with the hospital director, Hussein Yassin.
