The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces (ISF) announced on Monday that the security and order maintenance operation carried out by the ISF on New Year’s Eve was deemed successful.
In a statement, the ISF declared that the traffic measures implemented proved effective, as no fatalities resulting from accidents were recorded on New Year’s Eve.
Additionally, no significant security incidents were reported, except for some instances of random gunfire in certain areas, which caused no injuries or casualties, only some property damage.
The ISF is currently intensifying its investigations and inquiries to uncover the identities of those who fired shots in the air and apprehend them in coordination with the relevant judiciary. It encouraged citizens to share documented information (photos or videos) about "these individuals who persist in expressing themselves through this criminal and unethical behavior, as such actions pose a threat to societal security." Citizens were urged to report such incidents on the ISF’s website, under the category “Report,” or through any of its social media platforms, with the assurance of anonymity.
In conclusion, the statement quoted the head of the Internal Security Forces, General Imad Othman, commending the efforts of the security personnel in ensuring the well-being of citizens and maintaining traffic safety during the exceptional circumstances Lebanon is currently facing.
Othman also expressed appreciation to the Lebanese army and other security agencies for their measures in preserving security and order during the occasion.
