The Israeli Army has reported the loss of 30 soldiers due to accidents or friendly fire incidents since October 7, as detailed in an official statement cited by Haaretz.

According to information from The Jerusalem Post, this somber tally includes 18 fatalities resulting from “friendly fire,” two from “exceptional fire incidents,” and nine from accidents.

The Israeli Army has reported that 172 of its soldiers have been killed inside Gaza, with the war showing no signs of stopping, as noted by AFP. Haaretz, the Israeli media outlet, reported a slightly different figure of 171 soldiers. This underscores the challenging reality that nearly 18 percent of Israeli soldiers have been killed due to field mistakes since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

The nearly three-month war in Gaza was triggered by Hamas' October 7 attacks on Israel, which killed around 1,140 people, most of them civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official figures. Despite soldiers being reported dead on a daily basis, the Israeli state is not updating the official death toll.
