Michel Aoun at FPM Meeting Calls for 'Closing Ranks'
The weekly meeting of the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM), headed by its leader Gebran Bassil, was marked by the presence of his father-in-law, former President of the Republic Michel Aoun.

According to information obtained by This is Beirut, this participation comes in the wake of "unjustified" absences of several FPM members from party meetings and events, for reasons of a political nature.

Aoun's speech at the FPM headquarters at the Mirna Chalouhi center in Sin el-fil focused on the need for everyone to "take part in meetings and events organized by the FPM" and to "close ranks at a time when the conspiracy against the party persists," which "is confirmed by the latest developments." The former president was referring to the extension of the mandate of the Commander-in-Chief of the Lebanese Army, Joseph Aoun, which was strongly opposed by Bassil, Aoun’s son-in-law.

Aoun also called on FPM members to "show more professional discipline and cooperation in dealing with the attacks against the party." As such, it's no secret that dissension within the orange party is becoming increasingly obvious.
