The Detroit Pistons suffered their 25th consecutive defeat on Thursday night in the NBA, in "Motor City" against the Utah Jazz (119-111), one of the worst streaks in the league. Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks secured their sixth consecutive victory at home against Orlando (118-114).
Detroit nears the record for consecutive losses:
The Detroit Pistons, who endured their 25th consecutive defeat at home, are approaching the record for consecutive losses by a team, still held by the Philadelphia 76ers, who lost 28 times in a row during the 2014-15 season. Detroit, a three-time NBA champion (1989, 1990, 2004), whose last victory dates back to October 28, had believed they would break this losing streak when they equalized 84-84 in the third quarter. However, the Jazz eventually imposed their rhythm in the game, with six players scoring more than ten points.
End of the winning streak for the Clippers:
The Los Angeles Clippers' nine-game winning streak came to an end in Oklahoma City, where the Thunder, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (31 points), convincingly won 134-115. It is the fifth win in six games for Oklahoma City, second in the Western Conference behind the Minnesota Timberwolves, who defeated the LeBron James-less Los Angeles Lakers 118-111 at home, as LeBron James was suffering from ankle tendinitis. French international center Rudy Gobert was effective for the Wolves, scoring 15 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
Six in a row for Milwaukee:
In the top matchup in the Eastern Conference, the Bucks (2nd) secured their sixth consecutive victory against the Orlando Magic (6th), firmly holding onto the second place in their conference with a hard-fought 118-114 win. Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks' playmaker, once again had a significant impact on the game with 37 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists. This not only marks the sixth straight win for Milwaukee but also their fifteenth consecutive win at home.
Wembanyama very discreet, Spurs beaten again:
Within a San Antonio Spurs team that suffered its 21st defeat in 22 games with a 114-95 loss in Chicago, French giant Victor Wembanyama, returning after missing the previous game due to a right ankle injury, did not live up to expectations. The rookie, the number one draft pick, only scored 7 points, his lowest total of the season, and grabbed only 5 rebounds, none of them offensive. This lackluster performance by "Wemby" ends a record-setting streak for a rookie in the league with eight double-doubles.
