Caretaker Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi announced on Thursday a security plan for the festive season, assuring that "462 officers, 6,872 agents and 292 patrols will be mobilized to ensure security."
"Security forces will be on full alert to crack down on perpetrators of celebratory gunfire. Offenders will be brought to justice," Mawlawi said at the end of the Central Security Council meeting.
The Council is also examining and closely monitoring the security situation in the Palestinian camps, the minister added.
Regarding the issue of displaced Syrians, Mawlawi said that General Security had received data on Syrian presence in Lebanon from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
