- South Lebanon: Violent Night Raids Against Aita al-Shaab
Israeli bombardment on the southern Lebanese border continued on Saturday after a violent night.
Two violent raids targeted Aita el-Shaab during the night, destroying homes and raising fears of loss of life. Residents were still searching for survivors under the rubble on Saturday.
Artillery shells targeted the area of Kfarchouba from the Israeli position at Zebdine, at the rate of one shell every quarter of an hour. At the same time, Israeli reconnaissance aircraft are flying at low altitude over the Arkoub region (Hasbaya caza).
In the morning, Israeli bombardments also targeted the villages of Blida, Tayr Harfa (Tyre), Mohaybib (Marjayoun), Aytaroun, Ras el-Naqoura, Al-Majidiyeh, Dhayra, and Alma al-Shaab (Nabatiyeh).
An Israeli Merkava tank fired shells at the village of Maroun el-Ras.
In retaliation for the targeting of an Israeli surveillance tower from Wazzani (Marjayoun), the Israeli Army shelled the source of the fire on the outskirts of Wazzani.
On Saturday morning, the Israeli Army also opened fire in the valleys surrounding its positions at Birkat Richa and al-Raheb, on the outskirts of the town of Aita al-Shaab.
Night-time air raids targeted the eastern sector and outskirts of Qaouzah and Ramya.
On Friday night, artillery bombardments targeted Maroun el-Ras and Jabal el-Labbouneh, as well as a house in Khiam. It should be noted that 240 mm shells were used for the first time since the clashes began last October.
An explosion was also heard in Kafra and Yater, the result of an Iron Dome interceptor missile.
Similarly, Israeli surveillance aircraft flew over the western and central sectors throughout the night and into the early hours of the morning.
For its part, Hezbollah announced the death of one of its fighters from Aita al-Shaab. It claimed to have targeted the Ramya position on Friday evening and to have caused casualties.
On the Israeli side, alarm sirens sounded in the Upper Galilee on Saturday, while the Israeli media reported rocket fire from southern Lebanon.
