Fayad in Search of Funds at COP28
Caretaker Minister of Energy Walid Fayad continues his participation in the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28), which is running until December 12 in Dubai.

On Tuesday morning, he took part in a dialogue session on energy efficiency in buildings organized by the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) in the presence of a representative of the French Development Agency (AFD), with whom he met to seek grants to finance energy projects in government buildings in Lebanon.

He also met the Belgian Minister of Energy, with whom he reviewed bilateral projects and worked on energy projects to be financed by the European Union. He also attended the bilateral meeting that brought together representatives of the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security and representatives of the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation.

Fayad took part in a meeting on the interconnection between the water, energy, and health sectors with the Egyptian Minister of Health, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, on Monday. In his address, the Lebanese Minister stressed the importance of ensuring a healthy energy sector because any lack of energy security adversely affects the water sector, which inevitably leads to damage. The meeting was an opportunity to present a new program financed by the Green Climate Fund that will benefit Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon. The Ministry of Energy and Water will work with the Lebanese Ministry of Environment to obtain the official authorizations needed to move ahead with the project.
