The Internal Security Forces (ISF) raided a building in the Wadi al-Rihan area in Akkar on Thursday, apprehending 38 individuals of Syrian nationality, including 5 minors.
These individuals were hiding in the building, awaiting their smuggling to Europe via death boats when the ISF caught them, according to a statement by the General Directorate's Public Relations Department on Sunday.
"As part of the daily monitoring conducted by the Internal Security Forces to curb illegal migration by sea, information was received by the Aleppo Judicial Unit in the Judicial Police regarding the hiding of a group of individuals of Syrian nationality inside a building in the Wadi al-Rihan area in Akkar, awaiting their smuggling to Europe via death boats," the statement read.
Z. A. (born in 1994, Lebanese) and H. D. (born in 2004, Lebanese) were detained following the raid.
"An investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the competent judiciary," the statement added.
