When Charles Khoury Toasts to the Health of Art

A collaboration between established Lebanese artist Charles Khoury and a renowned winery marks this festive month. This collaboration is further enriched by an exhibition of Khoury's works in Mar Mikhael. Known for his work in painting, sculpture and lithography, Khoury skillfully combines primitive forms with bright, playful colors in his creations.
In Khoury's art, the interplay of form, color and composition transcends conventional boundaries. Known for his vibrant palette of primary colors, Charles Khoury’s work evolves in an innovative universe, bridging images, form, color and structure, all composed into sets that give rise to imaginary representations.
The artist’s brushstrokes are encapsulated in this collaboration with the winery, uniting the pleasure of enology with that of art.
The local wine, crafted from a delicate blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, offers a unique cuvée for this event. Each sip is distinguished by well-balanced tannins. On the nose, it presents a fruity profile with notes of raspberry and blackberry.
This wine, having undergone traditional vinification to extract its color and aromas, is best enjoyed with meat or cheese. It is foremost a source of conviviality and sharing among friends.
Adorned in a ball gown, the bottle is now a piece of art, thanks to the artist’s brushwork. Nine hundred bottles have been painted for the delight of art and wine enthusiasts. This combined pleasure highlights the artist’s work, whose original burlap canvases were exhibited.

A series of rectangular paintings with vibrant colors and symmetrical forms blend harmoniously into human figures, fostering an amusing interaction between the spectrum and anatomy.
Among sensuously colored wine bottles, a suave aroma merges with the enchanting shapes drawn by the artist, igniting the senses during this festive period. The palate is in a flurry, and the observer admires the artwork displayed on each bottle as a token of shared joy. Indeed, each bottle comes with a printed version of jute canvases and an original, artist-signed piece, detachable for preservation and framing.
Furthermore, variously sized canvases by Charles Khoury are showcased in the LT gallery. A monochrome blue piece captivates our attention, revealing multiple figures in a rhythm unique to the artist.
It’s noteworthy that Khoury’s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Kuwait, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, the Ivory Coast, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom and France. His work has been auctioned multiple times. In 2008, he received the “Special Jury Prize” from the Nicolas Sursock Museum in Beirut, and in 2013, he won the “Artist Residency: Lithography Workshop” in Morocco. Khoury is a member of the Sursock Museum’s Salon d’Automne, the International Association of Fine Arts - Unesco in Paris, and the Lebanese Artists Association.
Savoring a glass of wine in the spirit of art and beauty, enhanced by the artist’s touch of color, immerses one in a world of taste, smell and visual sensations. A wine bottle, filled in a renowned chateau in the Beqaa Valley and presented in a colorful leather case, would be a quality gift.
