Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati visited the Maronite Patriarchate in Bkerké on Thursday evening, where he met with Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai. He confirmed that their views aligned on urging the international community to pressure Israel to stop its aggression against Lebanon.

Mikati, who briefed Rai on the tripartite meeting held in Ain al-Tineh yesterday, stated, “The enemy does not distinguish between Muslims and Christians, so we felt it was our duty to call for a dialogue meeting to unite our stance in solidarity, setting aside our differences.”

“Let’s come together to elect a president and rise above our disagreements, as the nation requires a united effort,” Mikati added.

“While we may have issues regarding candidates, we aim to elect a president without turning it into a challenge,” the prime minister said. He emphasized that there should be no preconditions, but no group should dominate at the expense of others.
