The press office of caretaker Minister of Telecommunications Johnny Corm, confirmed in a statement that no violation of the official communication network by Israel has occurred. The messages received by Lebanese citizens in several regions on Monday are fraudulent operations conducted via electronic applications that do not require advanced technology to infiltrate the network.

The Ministry of Telecommunications indicated that it is working to resolve the issue by shifting from the use of the IP IMS system (a standardized architecture of next-generation networks—NGN—used by telecom operators to provide fixed and mobile multimedia services) to the TDM system (a communication process that transmits multiple signals over a single communication channel). The latter is considered less vulnerable to breaches and can be better controlled.

The statement also emphasized that “the ministry has inspected the fixed-line network, noting that Lebanon’s telecommunications system already prevents any communication from Israel, and the Israeli code is blocked across the entire Lebanese network.”
