During his address to the Security Council session last night, Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Abdullah Bou Habib described the Israeli attacks on Lebanon as ‘terrorist attacks.’ He urged the Council to hold Israel accountable for its actions.

Bou Habib demanded a “clear and explicit condemnation of Israel’s terrorist attacks,” holding Israel fully responsible for “planning and executing them and for its blatant aggression against Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” He also emphasized Israel’s “flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and Resolution 1701.”

During the session, which was dedicated to investigating the “Pager” explosions, Bou Habib stressed, “Either your Council will impose on Israel to stop its aggression, implement Security Council Resolutions 1701 and 2735, halt its war on all fronts, and return the displaced to their homelands, or we will be witnesses to the great explosion.”

He further stated, “I appeal to the members of this Council to stand on the right side of history and defend justice and peace.”

Bou Habib highlighted the impact of the attacks, saying, “This attack has left hospitals and medical teams in an unprecedented state of emergency, exhausting their capacity.”

He concluded by emphasizing the need for the Council to take decisive action to prevent further escalation, preserve regional stability, and “give peace a chance”.
