The Tadamon Tyr team, shaken by a tumultuous season last year, narrowly avoided relegation before securing its place in the first division. This season, hopes were pinned on the presidency of businessman Hassan Fawaz, but his unexpected departure has created new uncertainty. As the start of the championship approaches, Abbas Sherkawi, the team’s player and iconic captain, speaks out to clarify the current situation and share prospects for the future.

Facing the press, Sherkawi appeared optimistic: “Preparations are going well, with one week left before the season kicks off. We are ready, with the arrival of local players and the imminent addition of foreign reinforcements – two Ghanaians, a Senegalese, and a Brazilian. Notable new signings include Bilal Najdi and Ali Hourani. Although the departure of defenders Hassan El-Chemali (Kaka) and Hassan Sherkawi has left a gap, we are fortunate to have Dr. Jihad Kandil as president, a former board member. His experience and understanding of the team’s needs will be invaluable assets.”

He added, “The field has undergone a complete renovation, including the changing rooms and bathrooms. However, it will take about two months before everything is fully operational. We are counting on our supporters to help transform our stadium into a fortress feared by visitors.”

Regarding training, Sherkawi emphasized the importance of staying focused despite the challenges in southern Lebanon: “We remain committed to our sporting objectives and face challenges with determination. Last season was marked by administrative and technical issues, but staying in the first division was a victory in itself. The top 6 matches, often less publicized, are also less scrutinized by national selectors, which is unfair to the players involved.”

He concluded with an appeal to supporters: “We ask our fans to continue supporting the team with the same enthusiasm. We pledge to represent them honorably. Lebanon is going through a tough time, but our country has always shown unity and strength on the field. Therefore, despite the difficulties, we will remain true to our convictions and commitments and represent the south with dignity.” Message received.
