Beirut International Airport: traffic down 7% in first quarter of 2024.

Traffic at Beirut International Airport (BIA) recorded a 7% drop in the first quarter of the current year, in comparison with the same period in 2023, and a 12% drop in flights to and from Lebanon.

According to figures released by BIA, the airport welcomed 1,272,625 passengers from January to March 2024, compared to 1,368,373 in the first quarter of 2023. The number of arriving and departing passengers decreased by 4% (620,348 passengers) and 9.6% (651,943) respectively.

In March alone, year-on-year traffic at the airport declined by 12.5%. According to BIA figures, 408,625 departing and arriving passengers passed through the airport during that month, compared to 466,956 in March 2023. Arrivals were down by 8.45% (214,951 passengers) and departures by 16.47% (193,473 passengers).

Similarly, the number of flights fell by 10.67% compared to March 2023.
