Hezbollah Central Council member Sheikh Nabil Kaouk asserted on Thursday that “the resistance has the last word on the ground, as has always been the case.”
Speaking at a ceremony in memory of one of the party’s fighters, he said that “pressures cannot change the situation,” in response to the threats made by Israel against the pro-Iranian militia since the opening, on October 8, of the southern front in support of Hamas in its war in Gaza.
He claimed that “the resistance is stronger than ever,” unlike the Israeli army, which he said is “defeated and weakened.”
“A widening of the war in Lebanon would only result in a more deafening defeat for Israel,” Kaouk added.
He also stressed that “the cooperation and complementarity between the different poles of the so-called resistance, which is backed by Iran in the region (Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Iraq), has surprised the Israeli-American axis.” He believes that this “resistance” is on the verge of “achieving a new historic and strategic victory, laying the foundations for new equations and tightening the noose even further on Israel.”
For Kaouk, the fronts opened in Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria in support of Hamas have “proved the failure of American policy in the Middle East region.” Moreover, “Plans to normalize relations with Israel and protect the Hebrew state have been thwarted,” he added.
“The fact that the United States has failed to protect Israeli ships in the Red Sea and dissuade the resistance in Lebanon (from continuing its attacks on the Israeli army) is proof of the regression of American influence in the region,” Kaouk explains.
Turning finally to the decision taken by several countries to suspend funding to UNRWA after Israel accused 12 employees of the UN agency of involvement in the October 7 attacks, Kaouk argued that these measures reflect “American and Western complicity in the starvation and genocide committed against the Palestinian people.” The aim, he says, is to “break the will” of these people.
