An Israeli soldier was killed and three others wounded in the day-long exchange of artillery fire between Hezbollah and Israel on Saturday.

High tension on the southern front persisted on Saturday, with artillery exchanges between Hezbollah and Israel continuing throughout the day. These exchanges resulted in the death of one Israeli soldier in the afternoon and injuries to three others.

On Saturday, Israel shelled various locations including Tallet Hamamis, Wata el-Khiyam, Tall El-Nahas, Deir Mimas, Horch Houra, and the outskirts of Odaisseh, Kfar Kila, Kfar Tebnit, Choukine. Residential areas in Mohaybib were also affected.

Israeli bombardments also targeted the villages of Yaroun, Labbouneh, Naqoura, Chamaa, Tayr Harfa, Alma al-Shaab, Aita al-Shaab, Ramya, Debel, Markaba, as well as the locality of Mansouri in the western sector. Air raids were also carried out on the perimeters of the villages of Majdal Zoun, Sarbine, and Bayt Lif. Additionally, phosphorus bombs were dropped on the village of Marwahin. A three-story building in Maroun al-Ras was also targeted by Israeli bombardment.

A Patriot surface-to-air missile exploded over the village of Haniyeh in the western sector. Two interceptor missiles also exploded over the locality of Jeb Soueid.

In this context, the Israeli army’s Arabic-speaking spokesman, Avichay Adraee, stated on his X account (formerly Twitter) that “several Hezbollah infrastructures were attacked.” With regard to the alarm sirens sounding in Kibbutz Sasa and Kibbutz Shtula, on the country’s northern border, he said that several shells had been fired from Lebanon, “without causing any casualties,” and that the army had retaliated by targeting the sources of the fired shells.

For its part, Hezbollah announced that it had targeted the Ramim barracks with missiles and artillery shells in the early afternoon, and the Bayad Blida site in the afternoon.

Earlier in the day, the pro-Iranian group had declared that it had bombed the Hadeb site, opposite the village of al-Bustan. They also targeted the Raheb site, Shtula and Khallet Ward infantry units, and the new military command headquarters in Sasa.

Hezbollah also announced that it had shot down an Israeli Hermes 450 tactical drone with a surface-to-air missile on Friday night, claiming that the aircraft’s debris had fallen over the Galilee. A video of the operation was released early Saturday evening.

On their part, the Israeli army announced that its air defense system had intercepted a ground-to-air missile launched from southern Lebanon at one of its drones. The sirens sounded as the interceptor missiles were launched, and the projectile launched from Lebanon did not enter Israel.

At dawn on Saturday, the Israeli army fired two missiles at an aluminum factory on the road between Toul and Kfour in the Nabatieh caza, causing a fire. Civil defense units succeeded in extinguishing the fire, and no casualties were reported.

It is important to note that this is the first time since the start of hostilities on the southern front between Hezbollah and Israel on October 8 — and since the Israeli offensive on Lebanon in July 2006 — that Israeli bombing has come so close to Nabatieh.

Additionally, the UNIFIL forces have repeatedly activated the alarm sirens at their headquarters in Naqoura and in the vicinity of Tayr Harfa and Chamaa.

In this context, several presidents of municipal councils in the villages of southern Lebanon have called on the government to support the inhabitants who are still living in the localities subject to daily Israeli bombardment.
