The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers announced on Monday that caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati convened a ministerial meeting on Wednesday, November 1 at 10 AM at the Grand Serail.

Among the 18 items on the agenda is an emergency bill to allocate part of direct tax revenues to finance the deposit recovery fund to be set up.

The Council will also consider a draft decree to open an additional allocation of LBP 250 billion to the 2023 general budget, to finance pensioners’ salaries as well as end-of-service allowances for the year 2023.

Other points concern the signing of a contract with the Merit Invest companies in association with Colis Privé France, following the public tender for the supply of postal services and products.

There is also a bill to regulate quarries and crushers.

Also on the agenda is the establishment of a national social protection strategy and the implementation of an emergency intervention project to ensure wheat supplies.

Finally, draft decrees will be studied for the acceptance of donations to ministries and public administrations, from various entities, in order to exempt them from customs duties and port charges.
