Following intensive contacts throughout the day between Hamas, the MP for Saida, Oussama Saad, and Palestinian leaders, an agreement on a ceasefire was reached in the Palestinian camp of Aïn el-Hilweh, in Saida.
The ceasefire is due to come into force at 7pm.
Fighting between President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah and fundamentalist Palestinian groups close to Iran continued intermittently throughout the day, leaving around forty people injured, according to the latest report.
