The Commander in Chief of the Lebanese Army, General Joseph Aoun, stated on Tuesday that the troops “are standing strong thanks to the determination of the military.”

“Any army that would have endured the trials we have faced over the past three years would certainly not have held up,” Aoun said during the graduation ceremony of 107 officers—53 women and 54 men—from the Army, General Security, and State Security who have completed their three-year training program.

“You are now responsible for the nation,” the General continued, addressing the officers. “Be worthy of the decisions you will make. Do not let politics or confessionalism infiltrate your ranks. It is not the communities that protect the country, but the military institution, of which you are the pillar.”
