The Lebanese U21 men’s beach volleyball team has qualified for the final stages of the U21 World Beach Volleyball Championship to be held in Thailand next November, after finishing fourth in the U21 Asian Championship that ended on Sunday. The Asian tournament also took place in Thailand, in the capital Bangkok.

The top five teams in this Asian tournament automatically qualify for the final stages of the U21 World Championship. Lebanon has qualified alongside Australia, China, Iran, and Kazakhstan. The Lebanese team, led by national coach William Asmar and coach Farid Moussa, includes players Omar Mark Abi Karam and Hadi Chadi Chbeib. Twenty-seven nations competed in the Asian U21 Championship: Thailand, China, Australia, Kazakhstan, Oman, Iran, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, the Maldives, Saudi Arabia and, of course, Lebanon.

Lebanese volleyball has been enjoying a flurry of wins, the Lebanese women’s team also having won the title of the West Asian Championship undefeated. The championship was held in the Jordanian capital Amman last November.
