The First Investigating Judge of Mount Lebanon Nicolas Mansour issued an indictment on Friday July 14 for the murder case of Alaa Abou Faraj, a supporter of the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP).

Abou Faraj was killed in May 2018 in Choueifat, south of Beirut, during clashes with members of Talal Arslan’s Lebanese Democratic Party following the announcement of the parliamentary election results.

In the indictment, Judge Mansour requested forced labor for Amine Souki who was accused of “intentionally committing the crime by launching an RPG rocket at the PSP office in Choueifat.” The ruling is in accordance with Articles 547 and 189 of the Penal Code, as well as Articles 72 and 75 of the Arms Law.

The same sentence has been requested for Hicham Khachine, Ayman Ibrahim, and Rabah Jurdi, accused of involvement in the crime. Two other individuals are also suspected of having participated in the murder. The case has been referred to the Criminal Court of Mount Lebanon.
