The Lebanese army issued a statement on Sunday morning, urging “citizens to maintain national unity and avoid actions that could harm civil peace during this critical and sensitive phase in our nation’s history.”

“The Army Command continues to take the necessary security measures and fulfill its national duty to preserve civil peace. It calls on citizens to cooperate with these measures and uphold the principles of national unity, which remains the only safeguard for Lebanon,” the statement added.

The army noted that this announcement comes in response to the continued “aggressions by the Israeli enemy,” which have resulted in the killing of Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, along with more than a thousand deaths and thousands of wounded in recent days.
