Lebanese Forces (LF) leader Samir Geagea deplored on Friday the “absence of the state” and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri’s failure to convene an extraordinary session to discuss the crisis facing the Lebanese people in light of the escalating confrontations between Israel and Hezbollah.

“Ten deputies had submitted, on July 22, 2024, a written request for a session on the governmental measures necessary to avoid a war in Lebanon,” Geagea said, asking, “Is it acceptable to paralyze the institutions of the state in this way, a paralysis that benefits Lebanon’s enemies, notably Israel?”

“Is it also acceptable for the sufferings of the Lebanese people, who are reeling under successive crises, to be exacerbated by the threat of war?” Geagea said in a statement, adding, “We have repeatedly warned against this war which leads to the displacement of the Lebanese and tragedy within their homeland.”
