On Friday evening, a series of heavy Israeli airstrikes—ten simultaneous strikes—targeted Beirut, focusing on the area near Haret Hreik, Al-Amliyeh School, and the old road to the airport. The attacks occurred in a typically crowded neighborhood, resulting in dozens of injuries so far. Initial reports indicate that the strikes have completely destroyed six residential buildings and surrounding infrastructure.

According to Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari, the strikes aimed at the central command headquarters of Hezbollah. Hagari added that the targeted zone was located beneath residential buildings and contained military munitions.

The targeted area in the suburbs was struck by F-35 aircraft that carried out the strikes using bunker-buster bombs.

According to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, the bombs used in the attack are of the MK84 type.

The target of the Israeli strike in Beirut was Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, who reportedly survived the assassination attempt, according to Israeli media sources.

A source close to Hezbollah confirmed on Friday that Hassan Nasrallah, is “fine” after Israeli media reported that he was the target of the strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut.

The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AFP, “Mr. Nasrallah is fine.”

Latest reports claim the death of Hashem Safieddine, the cousin of Hassan Nasrallah, and Deputy Ali Ammar in the airstrike on the suburbs. There has been no official comment from Hezbollah sources yet.
