Saudi Arabia has officially announced the launch of the “International Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution,” a global initiative aimed at resolving the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The announcement was made by Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a ministerial meeting on the Palestinian issue, held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly’s High-Level Week in New York.
This coalition brings together Arab, Islamic and European countries, all committed to achieving a lasting and just peace through the two-state solution.
In his address, Prince Faisal condemned the ongoing war in Gaza, describing it as a humanitarian disaster and emphasizing the widespread suffering caused by the conflict.
He pointed to serious violations by Israeli forces in the West Bank and raised concerns over the threat to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and other religious sites.
The minister linked these actions to a larger pattern of violent extremism and policies of occupation that, according to him, only fuel the conflict further.
Prince Faisal was particularly critical of the justification of self-defense for actions that have led to the deaths of thousands of civilians.
He expressed concern over the systematic destruction and forced displacement happening in the region, condemning tactics like starvation, torture and other war crimes, some of which have been documented in United Nations reports.
He called for an immediate cessation of all such activities, stating that these violations are in clear breach of international law.
The foreign minister also warned of a dangerous escalation in the region, highlighting the potential spillover into Lebanon and the risk of a broader regional war.
He urged the international community to act quickly, not only to stop the violence, but to hold accountable those who continue to obstruct the peace process and undermine regional security.
Reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s stance, Prince Faisal underscored that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is a non-negotiable right and a necessary foundation for peace.
He also expressed appreciation to the countries that have recently recognized Palestine and urged others to follow suit, noting that 149 nations have already recognized Palestinian statehood.
Prince Faisal concluded by formally announcing the “International Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.” He called on other countries to join the initiative and expressed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to leading efforts towards a credible, irreversible path to peace, ensuring security and coexistence in the region.
